What did you do to your twin today?

The Classic triple forum has a thread for daily modifications and shop work. Lets get that going for twins as well.

Today I lowered my T100's rear brake lever. I took the pin out, the master cylinder off and adjusted the bucket and locknut. Now I won't be beside my brake pedal on that bike, I can be above it, ready to use it just a tiny bit quicker.

I also painted the worst-off gas cap I had, black. So I can ride on sunny days without being blinded by my own bike. - my sun visor is in the helmet, and comes down from the top so I get nice glare off the clocks and tank... :(

Hmmmm. Do you know what "Pendejo" means? I grew up in New Mexico (yes it IS in the USA) and am not sure I'd put that on the bike . . .:)

I looked to see if the new Joker billet shock bolt trim caps would fit on my top rear shock mount - the bottom mount is hidden by my exhausts so don't care

Tilted the ft brake and clutch levers down 1/8 inch from stock. Nice difference better suited for when I'm in my aggressive riding position (leaned forward). Keeps more hand on the grip while working the levers feel more control during the pull. Me likes.

Got together with the water-jet operator at work to flowjet the final design of my new gauge bracket. Stock speedo, 2.4" mini-tach, ignition relocation and idjut lights. Hopefully the project might be done this weekend. Will post pic's when it's done.

Today I spent half an hour with the new Bonnie jacked up in the garage - trying to figure out if the brake pulsation is the front disc. I believe it is; when jacked up, spinning the front wheel produces the same position ( air filler at the top of the wheel ) every time. I'm not quite good enough with the digital brake disc caliper I just bought to tell how far out of whack it is, but most of the disk is 5.32mm which is within .32mm of replacement. This Bonnie has 17K on it - any idea how long that .32mm will last?

EBC floating disc is less than the stock set and both are either back ordered or close to it. I don't want to be down a bike for a month. I'm really annoyed. Anyone have stock brake disk with good service life left in it?

How bad is it? I rode for a couple weeks with a pretty bad pulsating brake. I ended up using the rear for slow speed stops, and only the front for high speed. I found Bike Bandit had the non-floating disc, despite the picture that looks like a floater, for $210, and in stock, shipped in a couple days.

If you can though, hold out for the floater so the problen doesn't come back.

Jim

I continued researching clear or tinted turn signal lenses. Otherwise, I kept it in the garage away from the predicted rain today.

Pendejo

Pendejo is a single pubic hair. In Mexico´s slang it is used as an insult like idiot or fool, but in Peru´s slang it used to describe a smart guy with few or no scruples.
No confies en el. Es un pendejo.
i thought pendejo was a&#hole in Spanish. But what do I know working construction in AZ for 25 years?

Coldnight,
Measuring the thickness of the disc in several places will only tell you if the disc is varying in thickness (that will cause pulsing). It could measure relatively the same all the way round, but still be warped. The best way to check for warp is to mount a dial indicator to the fork leg and check the runout as you rotate it as an assembly.

I don't have a dial indicator, but I will soon...

I had to go 4 places to find the thickness gauge... I fear I may spend the rest of my days looking for dial indicator in this town... I'm trying to deliver this bike to my brother in law sometime this month.

I've now spent more on tools to diagnose this issue than I'm spending to replace the disk....

Damnpener

Ordered a steering damper from Royal Enfield. It arrived today but the problem was it was not the same damper they had a picture of in the catalog, the one piece which would have made it easy to install was freaking missing.
Called the place, got handed off to three techs one said they had had some problems with that particular piece and had discontinued it, replacing it instead with a 3/4" x 2" piece of metal which they suggested i "weld" on the bike.
Told them there would be no welding on my bike frame but had the clamp been there as pictured it would have "clamped" to the frame in the first place. After some study I figured out the only possible way it would work as is was to drill a hole in my front upper strut on the sidecar, thus weakening the strut and probably eventually causing it to fail under load. No freaking way, Jose'
Talked to another guy who tried to see if they had a spare clamp around in the back room, no go on that....that guy said, "Oh, just work with it, it will fit somewhere!" I asked him for a RMA number and asked if I had to eat the return shipping cuz of their catalog misrepresention....and was told they would credit the return shipping to my card....
Ordered one from Mike at SelMotion......it's on the way.
