And, you will find more people like me who have tossed the bike down the track and had to figure out how to deal with a really, really ugly scuff!

I used some Hammerite spray paint. I assume it is available in the UK. It has a crinkle finish similar to the OEM frame and swingarm paint. It is a slightly different color, but not too bad. I have a few nicks in the frame as well as the big scuff on the swingarm, and my intention is to spray the Hammerite into an empty yogurt container and then use a cotton swab to fill the scratches. as long as it is a minimal application, I think it will turn out just fine and be next to invisible, unlike the repair I made to the swingarm. Nothing short of a whole new paint job is going to make it look perfect again.
