I've drilled and tapped several other motor cases before - though nothing on the speedy yet. I changed my clutch plates the other night and noted the usual softish alloy used for the clutch cover. I'd say it's not a problem at all. Take it off, drill a neat hole and plug it or push a hollow bolt or whatever you plan to use to connect up to the breather to the airbox IMHO.
