FARK - Frank's Airbox Removal Kit
I decided to make my own airbox replacement kit rather than cutting the airbox or buying an ARK or NARK. It didn't take too long. 3 hrs to build a cardboard model and about 8 hrs to cut and build the FARK out of aluminium. I used mostly stainless steel bolts to hold it together (for more of a Frankenstein look) and some rivets to secure some of the various brackets (for relays, thermostat etc - I used the stock brake fluid reservoir bracket and just bent it a little to fit). I didn't have any sheet metal tools and just improvised with basic hand tools. The only power tool I used was a jigsaw to cut the metal...oh, and a drill of course.
All in, I'm quite happy with the results - much more satisfying than buying one. I'm also making an oil catch can for the crankcase breather.
At the moment I have 138 main jets in with 42 pilots but haven't done a test ride yet as it just started snowing today! I also have 135s and 140s and will do a dynorun next week. Started up no problem and roars like thunder, so I'm looking forward to that first ride.
Thanks to the forum for providing the inspiration. I'll post more pictures soon.
