We usually buy the high-grade unleaded in Mexico. They only sell that and regular. The price seems to work out to a bit more than regular in S. Texas. The ironic thing is my gas mileage is usually better in Mexico than the US. At first I blamed it on higher altitudes, but our last trip was mostly below 1000 ft. elevation, so that's not it. On the highways, I ride at about the same speed as I do up here, an indicated 75 or 80 mph.

The only time I've had problems with gas was a car trip about 6 years ago. I ran low on gas on the descent from Durango to Mazatlan. (The road goes from 8500 feet to sea level in about 60 miles, no gas stations.) And I bought some gas along the way from a guy who pumped it out of a barrel with a hand pump. The next day, in Chihuahua, I had a completely plugged fuel filter. Made me wish I'd thought to filter the gas, at least with a handkerchief, as we put it in the van.
