I think the sales brochure is incorrect. It states the Touring model contains 22.3 liters or 5.06 US gallons.

If you convert 22.3 liters to US gallons you get 5.89, or just what the owners manual states. BTW, 22.3 liters does equal 4.9 UK gallons.

The figures in the brochure for the Standard and Classic models appear to be correct.

Removing the chrome speedo/gauge housing only gets you a flat topped tank with a single connector going to the bottom of the gauge cluster. My unit was replaced due to damage in shipping and resulted in fuel gauge/miles to empty settings remaining the same but odometer and trip meters were reset to zero. So, my bike has 850 more miles than the odometer reflects.
