You're right, it's so you don't have to splice any wires when fitting the alarm. You just plug it in. As long as it's the Triumph Datatool alarm of course.

If I remember correctly from previous Datatools, the blanking connector can be put back in, should the alarm feck up, and the bike can still be started. Not sure on the S4 though.
