I too live in the Phoenix area and am concerned with the heat. I exchanged emails with the folks at Thunderbike regarding the fit of their louvers on the new R3 Touring. The R3T's were just arriving in New Zealand and they were going to check on the fit as soon as possible. From the pictures I suspect they will fit just fine.
On a side note, the falling dollar has boosted the price of the louvers $30 over the last week.
I'm also considering a set of Predators (ceramic coated), but as with everything else, I suspect getting a set for the Tourer may take a while. I've had truck headers Jet Hot Coated and the reduction in radiated heat is amazing.
