Matt - I would suggest at least getting a pair of Draggin Jeans or Sliders to wear over your armor.
The armor will protect you against impact, as long as it is affixed properly and will not move drastically in a crash, but your thigh, hip and butt area are hanging out there waiting to be ripped open on the tarmac.
If you are just wearing jeans - you really have no more protection than wearing shorts that's how weak the denim is.
I wear Bohn Adventure pants with armor on hips, thighs, tail bone and knees held snuggly against your skin by the Lycra style pants. Over top I wear a pair of classic Draggin jeans. I think this combo would keep me well protected during a get-off, but would only be a one-use-wonder as any serious sliding will degrade both the pants and armor.
