That really depends on factors of the engine's early life. Are you the first owner and have all the 16k on the bike been aquired by sensible riding? My friend's TT clocked up to 33,000 before the counter shaft bearing went bad. but he also did 2 cross country trips with the **** thing. I know a few other people on this forum had TT's last to the 40k's.
Unfortunatley, no bike is perfect, and random mechanical failures happen. My bike was serviced by an idiot with its previous owner, and i payed the price, and a new engine to boot. I suppose the best thing you can do is make sure you trust the work of your mechanic or service station. If you trust your own handy skills, then do your own maintanence. i only send my bike in for valve jobs and tire replacements, and anything im not 100% on. Downside, my bike sits around alot while i study for the new procedure, and save money for new tools and parts. better sitting in my living room waiting then in some random garage though.
all i know is my bike's second engine has 15k on it, and shows no sign of slowing down!
