I have a Triumph K&Q seat and I'm not sure if the thickness of the seat padding makes much difference, but the slight extra width of the seat splays your legs a bit more and might make it more difficult to get your feet down if you are on the short side?

I'm only 5' 9" and have no problem - and I have the earlier type sub-frame with the seat lock - which is 1" higher than the later models.
