There was a question sent in to Cycle world magazine just a few months ago about the compatability of radials/bias ply tires. Their answer was that a while ago, when radial motorcycle tire technology was new, tire mfg's recommended that you used radials as a set, front and rear, now that it is better understood, some new models (the new Star/Yamaha cruiser, for instance) come this way (rear radial, front bias ply) from the factory.
