Major MPG decline...

Been a cold winter here in STL, but have been able to fire up the TBird every now and then just to keep the internals in working order. I've taken her out to ride twice in the past two weeks and I've noticed a BIG decline in my gas mileage.

I used to be able to get to about 120 miles before I'd have to hit the reserve, but these past two rides, I've had to hit the reserve at about 75 miles.

I am pushing the bike harder with RPM's running about 4500-5000 as opposed to the 3000-3500 that I was running her at. Would that make this big a difference?

I also have been letting her run while on the rear stand occassionally, just to keep the inner workings going through the winter...would that eat ALOT of gas?

My other thought is maybe the tach. is off, but I don't know.

Anyway, it was GREAT to get out and ride, but this mileage problem (and $3.00 gas) has me somewhat stumped.

Any ideas???

TIA
