I looked at many different type bikes while considering my purchase. Looked at the "cruiser" line up (all brands) but I couldn't imagine me on a 650 + lb motorcycle. That is about right for a small car

My oldest son has a "crotch rocket" and when he let me ride it, I was tortured by the riding position. I felt like I was folded, spindled and mutilated!!!!!! Looked at the Ducati GTs. Seat was to hard for MLW, and she does deserve consideration since she rides behind me quite often.
I got a test ride on the triumph Thruxton and Bonneville. The thruxton was very nice, but would have needed to have H/B risers for me to ride it for any length of time. When I rode the Bonneville, I entered a time warp and was immediately carried back in time, more years than I care to admit to, back to the time I used to temporarily swap my car with a friend for his Triumph (a 500 twin). While on his bike, the ends of my mouth met at the back of my head

The Bonneville gave me the same felling when I rode it (second childhood, maybe). Also, MLW found the seat to by quite comfortable.
This post is only my personal experiences during the process of deciding on what bike to buy, it is no way meant to be derogatory towards the other type of bikes or their makers and riders. Nothing gave the "grin factor" of the Bonneville.

PLEEEEEEAAAAAASSSSSEE, don't anyone start dissing other makes of bikes or those who ride them or their make/model. They are all motorcycle enthusiasts who made a personal choice because of their own personal reasons, just like Triumph riders did!!!!!
As to Triumphrat.net, I discovered it a few months after purchase of the Bonneville. Have found much useful info while lurking and asking a few questions
