Well for reference I just bought a 98 with 11,000 on it last weekend for 3,000 cash. He was asking 3,500 but I offered and he took it. It is in perfect shape with all of the service records. It has the high mount can, polished frame and wheels, and came with a jacket, set of leathers, and a couple lids... I won't use, but still a little extra. I threw in some pictures for everyone... I would say 3,000 is a good deal for a 98 t595 on the market today, but it's just iffy about the problem. You can't tell how bad it is until you get it fixed... Maybe since he is your bud you can try to work out a deal where if the problem is too major then he will buy back. Or he could let you try to fix it on your time and money before you buy?
