Yes we all like to defend our purchase,BUT LETS GET REAL ,CRY BABYS !Out of the thousands of rockets on the road today,a very small% have major problems ....Lets try and keep things in perspective on this site
Neither you or i really have any idea of the percentage. But what can be determined is whether there are more issues than with the average bike. In other words, RELATIVE amount of issues. I respect people like Busajack because he owns one and even tho he has no issues he sees the truth and speaks it while others with no issues just figure that since they don't have any, the rocket is fine. There are no cry babys here, only those who have see there are issues beyond the norm or are investigating to see whats up before they buy, and that is the wise thing to do. it's also wise to be honest regardless of any pride you have for your bike. I can say w/o reservation that i have seen a lot more issues posted about here and elsewhere than the twins by a HUGE margin. The rocket is a sweet ride, but when you defend it regardless of the reality of this issue, you enable manufacturers to get away with things like this. Only the consumer can stop it by speaking the truth like Busajack. And like he suggests in his post, the percentage of posts you see with issues means nothing unless you are tying that percentage to the number of owners. If you only see 3 people online with issues that would seem like absolutely nothing. But it would be huge if there were only 10 rockets sold. I have read of dozens and dozens of owners with serious problems like Rocket mad's, yet there are probably 50 times the people in the forums that have twins and in my 2-3 years of reading of them i have literally seen 1 or 2 that i can recall with any serious problems. Literally ! And there are probably 50-100 twins for every one rocket in the L.A. area where i live, and i would assume it's the same everywhere.

But this whole thing started because of another thread where someone who's looking at R3's want to know the score, and you are not helping by telling him things that make them sound bulletproof. No one here is trying to bash your ride or being cry babys. They are simply stating the truth to someone who asked. Why you can't see it i don't know. But the fact is that while the chances of buying a r3 and getting unlucky may be small, it's relatively high compared to other triumphs. And thats all he wanted to know. It's a sad day when you cannot ask questions and get the truth because someone lets their pride of their machine get in the way.
