I currently ride with an engineer style boot with a steel toe (which I was glad was there this summer when I broke off the foot rest) and have no problems with shifting. I have wondered more about thickness of the sole as mine were lugged and lost some ability to feel the peg well. Just didn't seem to sit well on the peg. I have been thinking of new boots as mine now has a hole worn through to the steel in one (leaks in the wet). Sure would like to know what others wear.
