For the sake of other people reading this with a similar problem, the socket fits perfectly in the mounting bracket, and the "T" shaped electrical connector is the same too.
I'm still unsure what makes it specific to only the 1050, but it fits and works on the 955 so ***.
It's permanently live too which is a surprise as I thought it would be switched with the ignition.
