I had this same thing happen to me last year. As best as I could tell, it was bad fuel.
I was out riding one day and running low on fuel. Of course, the only station around was a BP. I hate BP! I normally won't even use it in a lawn mower, let alone my bike. So I only filled it enough to get back home. Next day, I try to take the bike out and it dies at every stop. I spent the whole day trying to figure out what was wrong. Finally, I just went and got a gas can full of Sonoco 93 and poured that in. Problem solved.
I don't know what it is, but all of my vehicles seem to run better on Shell or Sonoco vs anything else. Every vehicle I have ever owned has at some time had a bad experience with BP. You would think by now I would know better...
