John, it's basically software that runs on any PC (I use a cheap IBM laptop from ebay) and allows you to do everything the dealer's "gameboy" can do plus loads more.
Rather than try to explain it, have a look at the
website. You can download the programs and play with them on the computer to get an idea of how they work. Wayne Macdonald, the developer, is a very helpful chap.
I got mine through a group buy on the
Triumph 675 forum which saved me about £50.
