The Good, Bad & Ugly

Got back from my first RAT ride about 2pm, got to meet some good people, always enjoy the ride. Today I did 243 miles from home to Bob Evans to the Cape and then back home.

The Good:

The ride was nice, a little too straight for my liken, but still nice. The HOT tea at Bob Evans was wonderful, just holding the cup made my day The park was really nice, never even knew it was there. The people were great. It was nice to ride with some other Triumph owners for once. Other than one that belongs to the PGR, I haven't seen any others out in the wild.

The Bad:

****, it was cold. We got home from the Rodeo at midnight and when I checked the weather last, it was only 64 degrees. So I assumed it wasn't actually going to get too low. I put out my gear before going to bed and when I got up and opened to garage door, it seems rather warm. Maybe next time I should walk around the house to get a better gauge of the true conditions I throw everything on I thought I needed and got going. After 3 miles into my ride I was freezing. I stopped and put on my rain pants and rubber over-gloves which really helped but at 80mph on I4 my hands were still cold. Once I got to Bob Evans, I realized I had the wrong gloves on, my summer vented gloves instead of my winter leather gloves. With the glove liners and rubber over-gloves they were bearable and by the end of the ride I was fine again.

The Ugly:

After leaving the park, we stopped for gas in Titusville. I was maybe a little slow with the 3 pair of gloves and rain pants, but before I knew it everyone was done and waiting on me. I was trying to rush and dropped my Blackberry. As I leaned down to pick it up, I went left the bike went right. I tried to stop it, but once it got to about 45 degrees it was pretty much a loss cause. I picked it right back up and other than a little loss gas, it seemed fine. I started it up and rode home fine, other than a little loss pride. After I got home and checked the oil, waxed the chain and checked it all over, the only damage I have is some minor scratches on the right mirror. With all the plastic on the 675 and the tank which is pretty wide, I was real lucky.
