This is wrong. Powder coating is cured at 400*f, silver solder is well above that.
Powder coating is actually pretty easy to do. They even sell kits. The hard part is building the cureing box. Most people (non pros) use elements from electric stoves. (No open flames)

and just so you know, you CAN get a gloss finish with powder coating. They also have transparent and textured finishes.
