You might think about going with the Darien separate jacket and pants. The roadcrafter will fit snug, perhaps limiting the amount of layers you wear. A friend of mine has the Roadcrafter and wishes he had the Darien jacket and pants. I have them and love them. You pay A LOT for them, but they are built very well.

I also bought the windproof heated liner that zips into the jacket. I am not completely sold on the liner. I really don't get cold in it, but I just don't feel a lot of warmth either. I think they recognized a deficiency here as they now have some sort of blader device that you pump with air that puts the heating elements next to you chest. The liner is very high quality however, and I don't always plug it in unless it is in the 30s or lower.

One thing I did was I bought a large liner and an extra large jacket. The smaller liner fits snugger which should increase the warmth factor.

Again, I love my Darien Jacket. Its also reasonably cool in the summer with the sleeves, and vents unzipped.
