Well I had made plans to look at the 04. However I found a 06 for sale down at Bondi Beach for $11990, so I went and had a look.

I'm sorry to say that the Tiger is not for me. I didn't really know what to expect. But I found it uncomfortably heavy. Especially when I've been throwing my bonnie around for the last five years.

I didn't actually ride it though - I went on the back. I only sat on it. I did find that adjusting the seat to the lowest position was OK. I could reach the ground OK.

The experience was totally different from what I'm used to. Instead of tappet noise, it whirred. And instead of a roar (for the want of a better word) from the pipes, the was the occassional cackle? (I wondered whether there might be a hole somewhere)

It was smooth and powerful, and comfortable, while my bonnie vibrates, quickly reaches it's limit in the lower gears, and has a sprung seat on a hardtail. But I after riding the Tiger I realised how much I really enjoyed riding my old chop.

Maybe if I rode one for a while I may come to like the Tiger as much. I don't know.

The Tiger looked OK. But there were a few things I wasn't sure about. The bike had done about 27,000 kms. But it hadn't had it's 20.000 km service. Which probably explained why the oil was pretty dirty. I wondered if to what extent this would effect the engine, also, if not getting the service would invalidate the remainder of the warranty.
Also, there was something wrong with the headlight switch. One or the other headlights would be brighter than the other when the guy flicked the switch: first the one on the left and then the one on the right, but not both together.

But apart from that the bike seemed OK. No smoke or untoward noises that I could identify anyway. So it's probably a good buy for someone.

I might look at a Daytona 675 !!! Na, I don't think so

Might seem a bit weird riding your Tiger with a 73 hardtail bonnie chopper with 6 bend apes Advwannabe! But thanks for the offer.

Thanks again for the imput guys. It's been very helpful. I'll keep you updated.

I'll tell you what I did find weird: turning the Tigers handlebars and the instrment panel not moving with them

cheers, al
