Heated Clothing drained the battery

I ride with a passenger in cold weather. On a recent trip in Yellowstone, at 28 degreesF, all the heated equipment was on and the battery experienced a real drain electrically. I had to push the bike off one time after a brief stop for photos. I have the Triumph heated grips, I wear a heated vest and my girlfriend has a heated jacket. I have tried to determine the power drain on the system from all of the electrical users. 2002 955i alternator output according to the manual is 40amps @ 12v yields 480watts of power. I have calculated all the watts from the headlights, instrument lights, tail lights, turn signals (assuming I was turning), heated grips and clothing, but have no information on the requirements of the electric fuel pump or the actual power useage of the engine firing system.

Does anyone know the data on the engine power useage (spark firing system) and the electric fuel pump?

Additionally, can the alternator be upgraded or replaced to produce a higher output?
