Considering how little time one spends looking at the clocks while at speed, it may not be worth the effort. Then again...it IS a mod...Hmmm.

SK,

I was thinking the same thing - possibility you'd need to make a new slot.

Ok, so... rotated tach, pointing to say, 7K at 12 o'clock... cool. But, best way to keep it there and looking good...? IMO tach acorn nuts would look a little weird if they were no longer aligning with the speedo acorn nuts. Can't rotate the tach with rotating the attached cup - unless you drilled new holes in the cup to accommodate the repositioned integral mounting studs... and also possibly a new wiring slot.

I think if it were me, I'd first see what the wiring would comfortably allow... also see if the existing wiring slot in the cup is ok with the rotation or does the cup slot have to be relocated?

Probably would file a second grommet detent in the tach port of OEM bracket that would correspond to the tab in the grommet groove - that way the grommet, tach, and cup are clamped into the bracket like they oughta be when it's rotated to the desired position.

If I had to drill new holes in the cup for the tach mounting studs, would probably make some tight little internal plugs for the old holes that would render them virtually invisible when all was said & done...

Not a difficult mod overall and IMO worth pursuing...

Cheers,
