Norton Brian - i think you're correct .... what is missing is (as I remember it) a small block that bolts to the frame with a nub where the springs attach. I think what happens is that someone removes the stand and springs, but not the spring attachment point, probably thinking it is part of the frame. A riding buddy sold me the stand at a good price, and I ordered that piece from the Triumph dealer.
