I have a toga'd bonnie, and live in a quiet street of terraced houses amongst neighbours that I like and want to like me. I have no problems with the noise levels.
That said, I don't drive off at four in the morning on my motorcycle! When I leave that early, I try and shut the car door quietly and turn the car radio down too, because we all know how sound travels that early. (Except the drunken youths who walk past at night... they obviously don't.) So any non-stock baffle is a potential problem for you any which way.
