I expect you're right, Roden, although how he is proportioned (arms-to-legs ratio) could make a difference.
At 6'2" I have no complaint at all concerning the bars, and that's with my upper body longer than average for my height.
(Were it the other way around, meaning less upper body length but with longer legs, the riding position would require more of a crouch and eventually reach a point where it could stress my hips. But on average, 6'2" is not an unreasonable height for this bike.)
