There are any number of aftermarket tachs out there. There is a nice version from LSL, available from Jack Lilley amongst others, but it's a bit expense.
I brought a cheaper version in 2001 which has a neat bracket which attaches below the bottom handlebar clamp and sits over the chrome fork nut. This was a bit cheaper, but need wiring in. It's for sale if you interested and in the UK.
