I've got a Shoei Synchrotec II that I found very comfy, if a tad noisy. My wife has a Raid II the same size of mine and I find it too tight around the forehead, giving me a headache after about an hour. I've just bought a replacement for my flip-up and was torn between the XR1000 and a Schuberth either S1 or R1. I found the XR1000 felt exactly the same as the Raid - a bit tight around the forehead and sitting a bit high so my chin wasn't completely covered. That and the fact that the Schuberth lids were on special for €300 (about 200 quid), fit beautifully (best fitting lid I'd ever tried on) and were the quitest thing ever meant I ended up stuck deciding between the R1 and S1. Went for the S1 in the end as it was quieter and the visor is a **** site wider than the Shoei lids. Just my two penn'orth.
