Several years ago, I was pulling into the workplace parking lot, maybe riding 20mph, when I noticed a huge shadow coming from my left side, then felt the impact of an attacking goose. Lucky for me I was wearing a helmet, because the goose plopped between my arms, sat on the gas tank and began a vicious pecking attack on my face shield. This was followed by a blast of goose barf (lots of slimy half-chewed grass) all over my jacket. I grabbed it by the neck and pitched it off the bike..... while moving. A couple of my fellow workers who witnessed it were disappointed they didn't capture the action on video!

Over the past 25 years, several smaller birds have flown into my helmet. The impact must send them sky-high, because it takes a few seconds for them to appear in the rear view mirrors as they hit the road.
