In 1980 I had surgery on a back problem, a bad slipped disc. I had been laid flat for some months not getting better and all that. It was done NHS by a neurosurgeon (pardon spelling??) I was in a ward for 4 days surrounded by kids, and blokes, who had fallen off motorbikes. ( about two thirds of the ward.) I felt a fraud in this place.
The result was it spooked me so much as soon as I got home I sold my loved Honda 250RSA ( remember them !) I lasted about 4 months, and another RSA was in my garage :-D If you have bikes in your blood that is that !! I sold mine for the same reason, but to this day I ride to 'arrive' thinking about that bloody hospital ward. Good luck to you, but how long will you hold out ???
