Bad chrome...warranty option??

While I haven't contacted my dealer on this, I'd like opinions.
I've notice that the down tubes on my 06 T100 are going to start flaking off chrome soon. they have started to develop some small hairline cracks and I can see that the chrome will soon be lifting. That will lead to leaking fork seals. I haven't seen this since my Norton a very long time ago, and even my 84 BMW has perfect tubes. At first I thought it was a chip in the chrome, but now I can see it is a defect. Anyone else had to deal with this? Should I take the long ride to the dealer? I could call them but it's one of those things you need to see. Or should I go directly to Triumph and who would I call?
Thanks
Jer
