Temp Controller drain my battery?

I just installed a WarmGear Heat-Troller Single Permanent-Mount Temp-Controller on my 07 Sprint ST.
It is connected directly to the battery.
What has me freaked is that with no electric clothing plugged in, when the potentiometer is turned from the "off" position the LED turns on.
Does this mean if I forget and leave it on or a passerby "sees what the nob does" I could find my bike with a dead battery?

As a side note - the Heat-Troller does not provide the output that my old Widder bi-metal thermostat did. I am hoping that it will be enough though....
