I had the lower parts of my Trophy's done with a clear "chip guard" type of coating. I don't know if the body shops in England use this type of paint. It gives a textured surface that is flexible and tough, although I'm not sure if the touch-up you did will show through, however, it should disguise it quite a bit. Check with a good auto-body refinisher before you do it (or have it done professionally).
