That is the way it SHOULD have been done, I agree. But I got a bike that didn't run, then left it for 3 days, came back and picked it up. In the daylight, with the headlight off, I didn't notice the crack from top to bottom but it was obvious when the headlight was on in a dark garage. But mine was FILTY. Looked clean at the dealers, which was my fault for not inspecting it closely. Turns out the tank was clean, and the top half was ok, motor, fenders, etc. Wheels were still coated with cosmoline, etc. And only about 1 gallon of gas in it, to boot.
They took it from me 6 days ago, since I was going out of town they were to add some extras and replace the headlight. Apparently the headlight hasn't come in, so they didn't do anything else either, so now I'm with out my new toy again. But I agree, it may be more of a dealer prep issue than Triumph QC. But it's a shame, because it leaves a bad taste when it happens.
