I use saddle soap for cleaning and leather dressing for finish on my stuff. Not any particular brand, but the dressing I like has neatsfoot oil and vegetable wax treatment. I scrub the saddle soap in with a clean rough rag and wipe clean with another rag and let it sit for a while. Then work in the dressing with another clean rag and buff it with a boot brush for a satin look. All the rags and my brush get cleaned for the next time. I do it about once a year or so when I feel like it or if something nasty hits me. My gear has marks, scratches and flaws from under care and I like the character.
