I forget which is which on the three settings but AFAIK the three are

Kilometres/Litres
US Gallons/Miles
UK Gallons/Miles

1 US gallon = 0.832673844 Imperial gallons

I.E. a US gallon is smaller than a UK gallon - which explains the mpg diffferences when switched, you will get less miles per US gallon than a UK gallon, cos it's less petrol/gas

So it only speaks without forked tongue if it's set correct for UK/US

Have you noticed how wierd the word gallon looks if you see/type it a lot ?
