avoid the blind spot
When in the city, I tend to ride a little more aggressively, even moving up briefly to an unsafe following distance just to let the cager next to me know the lane next to him is occupied. Of course, if he is yakking on the cell phone, he probably doesn't notice me. City or slab, one of the most common mistakes I see riders make is occupying a blind spot.
I definitely feel more endangered in the city, safer out on the slab. Safest out in the country with less traffic. I trust me.
