For my money, it beats those rides. The roads are a lot less crowded, there aren't any speed cameras, and there's no language barrier when you pull over and meet some fellow riders. You give up castles/cathedrals in the background and overall the food quality is better in Europe. But you'd better not be in a hurry over there (for food or on the road). And you can get food that's just as good over here, but you have to know where to get it.
