Sounds like you need a set of twin vulcan cannons on the road bars...
I think they put out about 1700 rounds in a short burst and with two of them, it should pretty well vaporize any thing in the way....a good mod for them is a laser actuated target acquisition system...that way all ya gotta do is bump the "fire" button and the road is clear again...
