I had some minor diagnostic work done on my Speed Triple a few weeks ago at Lynnwood Cycle Barn (just north of Seattle).

When I picked the bike up, I noticed that the engine had some sort of cloudy film dried on it (looked like a giant hard water stain). I asked the guy what that crap was and he said "Oh they typically wash the engine down with some soapy water after servicing - it'll come off the next time you wash it"

Well, I washed it over the weekend and scrubbed the engine - the filmy stuff was still there.

I had a sinking feeling that they test rode the bike and hosed it off w/ soapy water when the engine was still hot, thus baking on this gunk and ruining the paint on the engine.

I called the service manager and he said to bring the bike back in and they would take care of it. I picked it up on Friday and it looked absolutely spectacular! They totally detailed the entire engine and it looked better than the day it rolled off the showroom floor!

And no charge!
