Yes, it's normal and not harmful to the bike. It results from a lean condition at low rpms and throttle positions. There are tons of threads on how to re-tune the bike to eliminate this but these all involve doing something "non-stock", such as adding a Power Commander (~$400 + dyno tune) or using the Tuneboy software ($400).
