BinarySpeed4, some will like the exhaust, some won't. For any track guys or those who are looking for the best power output and tuning capability, I can guarantee this setup will be valuable; although, you'll laugh when you hear how little it costs!

I reviewed the shop manual to see what all is incorporated in the shift-shaft of the transmission. There is a finger mechanism and spring on the end inside. I think what happened is that the shifter lever caught on something and pulled the shift-shaft out 1/2 inch. This might have popped off the spring or finger mechanism, and that is why I feel no connection when rotating the shift-shaft. Unfortunately, I have to split the crank case in order to get to that area. I'm excited about doing this, as I finally have a reason to tear down a TT600 engine. However, the time I have will not allow me to do this before the racing season ends.

After coming to that conclusion, I picked up a complete 2002 TT600 engine. This will allow me to be at the strip in approx. 2 weeks, and also gives me the benefit of having a spare engine. My plan is to eventually break down the 2000 TT600 engine, repair the shift-shaft, and then fool around with the internals. I'd like to port, match, and polish the intake and exhaust runners, and possibly look into larger valves. I'm not sure if the valve stem diameters are the same between the 955i's and TT600's, but it's something I could figure out. This could all be a good winter project.

Based off all of that, I took out the beast’s heart today. I have to say, I can take a TT600 apart in about 2 hours! The TT600 is now a rolling chassis. I'll concentrate on getting everything cleaned up, head bearings repacked, and all ready for the new mill.

Huge thanks goes out to our very own X1wagner; for he has been giving me invaluable advice and research data on the ECU mapping for alcohol use. I'm looking forward to getting the bike hooked up to Tuneboy!
