This is one of those give and take issues. The helmets that flow the most air (coolest) tend to be the loudest. The best compromise I have found is in the Shoei line of RF-1000 and X-11 helmets. They flow a lot of air, but are relatively quiet. I have found that helmets that have side pieces that cover the visor clips also add to the noise substantially, but the trade off here is in the graphics patterns - talking about Suomy Spec 1Rs here. Flip ups will be one of the loudest just due to the joints. I agree with the Schuberth claim about quietness, but their venting system leaves aaaaaaaalotttttttt to be desired - I briefly had an R1 which was a very comfortable nice fitting helmet, but the vents might as well not have been there. It has to do with the way the scoops put air through the shell.
