Thanks for all the suggestions! I'd pretty much eliminated everything like headstem/wheelbearings etc.
But after reading several posts I think you guys might be onto something in the chain dept. I'm followed the "owners manual" (got a thicker book with my electric toothbrush

) and tensioned the chain to have between 35 & 40 mm slack. Which by the sounds of things is a little tighter than some of you guys have found to work well. I'll also be a little more carefull when lubricating the chain.
