When I got my set I was a bit underwhelmed for the $81 I paid. Now that I've been using them for a few months, I think they're worth every penny.
Another good option, if you can set up something that velcro will stick to in your pants, is the Draggin Jeans armor kit:

The draggin armor is an absolute steal for $21 - it's made by knox and, IMHO, give the same or better procection as the Cross armor. They're a bit more noticeable on the bike, but you don't have to worry about straps binding or pinching across the back of your legs (which is my only complaint with the Cross pads).
