Hi folks. I got an 04 Thruxton a few months ago. I love it!
I'll post a pic once I've done some more mods. Right now it's just a stock dark red one without blinkers. The rear fender, oh excuse me, mudgard is coming off next along with a handlebar change, (herniated cervical disks don't like the Thruxton clip on's). Next will come the AI and airbox removal along with a set of "silencers" that aren't so silent, probably Emgo's. Eventually, I'll ceramic coat the whole exhaust, (I know a guy in town that does bathtubs and exhausts, should I go with the earthtone ivory or the guacamole green? ha ha, they'll be black).
BTW. Header wrap looks cool if your going for the rat rod look but it'll rot out your pipes and the perfomance gain is bull@#%$! except at that moment of the day when the barometric pressure is just right, Whoo hoo 2hp!
I'm a cheap bastard, so most of my mods will be homemade and I'll probably adapt parts from other bikes.
I've been riding since I was 7, (first bike was an Indian Junior Cross). I didn't ride much during my teenage years except off-road, (protective mother). In 1993 I got my first street bike, a Harley Sportster. I rode it 100K in 4 years. I also discovered that dealer service was an expensive joke and put my mechanical skills to work on mine and my friends' bikes. Since then I've owned several bikes: A BMW R1200CE, Ducati Monster 750, A few Harley's, Sporty, Dyna's, Softails and Customs. I've worked on hundreds of bikes and ridden with just about every kind of rider from uptight scooter mods to hardcore outlaw bikers and discovered the universal passion of 2 wheeled love. I typically ride about 20k a year because I have a day job as an Engineer, but have done over 30K a couple times. I try to ride everyday and living in So Cal makes that mostly possible.
Keep the shiny side up and don't rat f@$k my ride.
