You can go for a full back protector like you've mentioned. In the UK , Knox make good kit. Or you can buy CE approved replacement inserts which are made by Know and Dainese and fit in the pocket that the OE foam uses. More comfy and less intrusive. One thing is for sure,the OE foam is useless. A uk magazine did an impact test and the OE foam was less protective than a cheese sandwich ! And that's not a joke.
